Online Total Nitrogen Analyser - QuickTONultra

On-Line Monitoring of Total Bounded Nitrogen (TNb) in process or waste water streams

A variety of nitrogen compounds can be present in water.  Nitrogen compounds (such as ammonia, nitrate, nitrites and further organic N-compounds) can be individually determined, but only by investing considerable analytical effort and costs.  Hence the importance of monitoring TNb levels in water.  This parameter has been defined to indicate the amount of Nitrogen which is bound in chemical substances, in different kinds of water.  It is the most reliable nitrogen parameter and can easily be monitored On-Line with our QuickTONultra Analyser system.

  • Measurement range: 0 - 200 mg/l N (with further measurement ranges available)
  • Response time: 2-3 minutes
  • Up to 6 sample streams can be monitored on one Analyser system
  • High Temperature Combustion (1,200°C) method for complete oxidation without reagents
  • Measurement of complete samples incl. solids/ particles
  • Excellent detection value from ammonia and nitrate nitrogen
  • High salt concentrations possible
  • Catalyst-free technique
  • No filtration necessary
  • No memory effects
  • According to DIN EN 12260:2003 and ISO/TR 11905-2:1997

Exact Analysis. At 1,200°C, the complete Total Nitrogen is determined.

For an exact TNb measurement all nitrogen bonds - incl. particles - must be reliably combusted. LAR's unique QuickTONultra is capable of transporting and measuring a high content of solid matter without any filtration requirements. Additionally, complete oxidation of the sample with the high temperature combustion method (patented combustion temperature of 1,200°C) is guaranteed.

This method is perfect for pure and dirty water applications.

NO Catalysts required

Because of the high temperature the QuickTONultra this Analyser does not need any catalysts.  Complete oxidation of the sample, including particles, slimes and films, are oxidised at 1,200°C.

Lower combustion temperatures, such as 680-1,000°C, require the use of a catalyst to aid oxidation during the measurment. And even then, more complex compounds are often not determined when running at these low combustion temperatures.

Samples with high salt concentrations can easily be monitored

This online TNb analyser can handle salt concentrations of up to 300 g/L sodium chloride (NaCl).  Salts that melt at the temperature of 1,200°C are vaporised by the combustion power and carried out with the carrier gas to settle in a special retrieving device.

The QuickTONultra. Ultra quick measurements and maintenance.

The Total Nitrogen (TNb) measurement takes place within 2 - 3 minutes, making this Analyser a truely Rapid Total Nitrogen monitoring system.

The Total Nitrogen measurment can also be combined with Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) measurments on ONE Analyser system.

The analyser's availability is over 98%. The weekly service is about 30 minutes.
